Welcome!
Helicopter Flight Training. PPL(H), Trial
Lessons, Helicopter Charter and Pleasure Flights
Operating from both Bristol International Airport
and Compton Abbas airfield (south of Shaftesbury) in
South West England, Rotorflight is a helicopter training organisation
specialising in helicopter flights, helicopter training to PPL level,
helicopter trial lessons and helicopter type ratings.
Based in Bristol we are centrally located to cover the South West of
England from South Wales to the west, Wiltshire to the east, Gloucestershire
to the north and Devon and Cornwall to the south.

If you are looking for that special gift, either a helicopter trial
lesson or Gift Voucher, then Rotorflight can provide the solution. In
addition to helicopter flight training we also arrange helicopter pleasure
flights and helicopter charters for those special occasions.
If you are looking to obtain a helicopter PPL(H) then
we have the two seat Robinson R22 Beta II and the four seat Robinson
R44 Raven II helicopters, cost effective and ideally suited for students
looking to pursue helicopter flight training.
If you wish to obtain a PPL(H) on something faster or larger, we have
access to the four seat Hughes 500, five seat Bell 206 Jetranger and
seven seat Bell 206L Longranger helicopters. We can also organise commercial
work with these aircraft and additionally, type rating conversions on
these too.
Our website has something for everyone, from those
making their first enquiry into helicopter flight, to the experienced
“old bold” pilot ! We have pages describing the Private
Pilots Licence helicopters, the PPL(H), what’s involved in obtaining
one, what can you do with it when you have it!.
The first step for most people is to start with a trial lesson. Then
if you decide it’s what you really want to do, Rotorflight can
advise you on the best way to reach your goal.
For those who already have a PPL(H), we have details on training requirements
to obtain a Night Rating. If you are thinking of making a career out
of helicopter flying as a commercial helicopter pilot , then we have
pages on the requirements to obtain a CPL(H) licence.
If you are looking for a long term career in helicopters, flying the
oil rigs, Search and Rescue , Air Ambulance and possibly the Police
Force, then its worth looking at an Instrument Rating too.
Additionally, once you have obtained your CPL(H), you may wish to progress
onto becoming a helicopter flying instructor. So there is a page on
what is involved in obtaining an FI(H) (Flying Instructor helicopters)
rating. All these additional ratings can be found under “Post
PPL”.

At Rotorflight our aim is to offer the highest standards
of efficiency and service for all our customers whether it’s a
helicopter charter flight, helicopter training flight, pleasure flight
or an exciting alternative to limousine hire, we will strive to offer
an unforgettable experience to enhance any special occasion.
For all our students, Rotorflight use an On-Line booking system to book
any helicopter or instructor as you require. All bookings are confirmed
to the student and Rotorflight admin by e-mail. This eliminates double
booking and missed bookings, so often prevalent in manual systems. Any
Student that fly’s at Rotorflight are registered to use the system.
This system also monitors all student licence and rating details. It
keeps the student and us at Rotorflight, abreast of any medical, type
rating or licence that is due to expire in the near future. Any important
news of recent or future events, are also posted on the system.
Rotorflight can also provide all books, maps, charts, protractors, flight
computers, stationary, radio/GPS equipment and flight bags – in
fact anything for the student or PPL pilot.
For our one hour Trial Lessons, we also provide a “T” Shirt
or mug branded with the Rotorflight name (subject to availability) as
a way of remembering the helicopter experience.
At Rotorflight we understand that helicopters are expensive machines
to hire and run. So we aim to provide tailored packages that are second
to none. We have a professional, friendly and sociable approach to helicopter
training. Our aircraft are brand new or nearly new, always exceptionally
clean and maintained to the highest standards, to ensure that you the
customer, will recommend Rotorflight to your friends colleagues and
family for any future business.
The details on this web site are by no means exhaustive. If you have
any further questions or queries of any kind, then please do not hesitate
to contact us at Rotorflight using the details in the footer on each
web page.
